My family and I while in Jamaica did go to Dunnes River Falls. The only good thing about it was the boad trip ther and back! When we got there it was full of tourists and it was confusing on what group you camed in there was so many people. The falls is very high and hard to climb you need climbing shoes which you can rent!
The water current is very strong and i wouldnt suggest going if your faint hearted, pregant or cant swim. My husband and i are both strong swimmers and when climbing the falls did fall over on a numerous of times and cut our legs. The current was so strong it pulls you under if you fall in so you have to be careful!
Theres no rope to hold onto just the your fellow mates, family hands. The spiders tangled on the braches of the trees were MASSIVE! At the end of it you can purchase a DVD, which we did but were unsatisfied as it didnt show much of us climbing the falls. Waste of money but something to add to your list to say you have done.
My family and I stayed at Club Ocho Rios for two weeks. The transfer time from the airport to the hotel was about hour and fourty five minutes. The bus had no Air con.
Check In took too long.My daughter who was 19 was given a Red band which is used to notify the bartenders not to serve alcohol to children. My husband had to go threw all our bags to find my daughetrs passport to prove her age.
The employees on the main desk were VERY rude!!!! I had to buy calling cards from ther and they were 20$ each, ten pound sterling and they tried to rip me off on a numerous of times, even though the manager told his employees that the money i was giving them was correct!
The room itself was lovelly, the design and decor was good but smelt very mouldy. The beds werent that comfy. The cleaners do a good job when they want to but come in on innapropriate times.
The breakfast was great, american style! We found the burgers tasted like processed meat, which you wouldnt expect from a 6 star hotel. Dinner time got boring same food, the line to make resverations for the restraunts was long and the chinese restraunt was disguisting.
Entertainment at night was the same, the Michael Jackson show was the only good one. Sports bar was very cheesy and same with the disco.
Kids club NO GOOD!! They dont watch your children in the pool!!!! very DANGEROUS
At the end of it we had a big bill to pay for the connection of the phone. £127.98p even though we had calling cards!!
We went to Guana Island for a family vacation with our 10 year old and 13 year old and every one in the family loved it. I recomed it for familys with nice adventrus and resondables melow kids but if you have any small children or the have lots of energy and exept something more like atlantis. (a huge and completely man made water park) I also recomed it for romance and want to get away. another reasoon why I loved it is that it was so huge that most places you went you felt you had the Island to your self. The staff was also very nice they really made us feel at home. The kids loved it becouse they always found something to do, sometimes it was exploring or sometimes it wa water skiing or wind surfing or even scuba diving. I recomend Guana Island and if you went there I bet you would too.
My husband and I just returned from Villa Montana Beach Resort and had a lovely time. We had the chance to attend a destination wedding as my cousin was getting married at the resort. It was a hassle free direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale into the Aguadilla airport. My cousin had arranged through the resort to have all of her guests picked up in a town car, this saved us from renting a car but it was available if we needed it. It was a short drive, only fifteen minutes or so down rural roads and as we turned the corner there was this beautiful Caribbean paradise. I can see why she chose it.
Our Villa had breathtaking views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, and from our private verandah we enjoyed amazing sunsets that we still talk about. The Wedding was beautiful overlooking the ocean at dusk.– it made me wish that I had found this place 15 years ago when my husband and I were married.
The staff made us feel welcomed and they always had a hello and a warm smile as you passed them around the grounds. We were there for 4 days and there was so much to do we had a hard time deciding how to spend our free time. My husband and I went horseback riding along the secluded beach and also took a great mountain bike ride into lush green forests. The setting of the Villa Montana Beach Resort allowed us to rekindle our romance and get back in touch with the great outdoors. We have great memories of our trip and hope to come back again one day.
We travelled to Jamaica for the first time in Feb 2007 and stayed at the Ocho Rios. Absolutely fabulous! No complaints whatsoever... We travelled with our two teenaged sons (17 + 15 yrs at the time). My husband and myself had one room and the boys had another. No problems! Friendly staff. Amazing selection of food. Clean rooms (I am very particular). Clean pool. Made reservations for a special dinner one night - great steak food. Continually stocked fridge. No complaints. Did the Dunn River Falls excurtion which was amazing a definite must do. Would definitely return; actually, thinking about going back early next year (2009) to Jamaica but might try the Montego Bay new Riu location.
