When I read the other reviews I was sceptical that it could be that good. It was! Sue and Buddy were the best. Whatever we needed they would furnish it even WD 40 for removing sticker glue. We loved the place, the views, everything. There were four of us that shared a double bedroom room. So pretty and clean. The bananas off her tree were so good. If or when we go back we will surely stay at The Green Iguana again. Thanks Sue and Buddy! People like you are what makes a good vacation great.

This is in a great location, and is family friendly. Visited: August 2008

Buddy and Sue, the managers, were efficient, friendly and very accommodating in helping us choose local restaurants, summon taxis, etc.

There were six of us staying in three different rooms. We all appreciated the security of the coded-front entry, and then the locks on the individual room doors (as other reviewers have remarked).

Housekeeping was not a problem for us. The room decor was cheery, and the rooms were spacious. Because there were smokers in our group, all could enjoy the smoke-free rooms, but still enjoy sitting together on the outside patio connecting the buildings.

We will definitely recommend the Green Iguana, and we also hope for return visits here ourselves. All of us considered the G.I. to be a lovely secret, and one we're so glad to have happened upon.

Thanks to our hosts, Buddy and Sue, who never wearied of our silly tourist questiions!

My husband and I spent ten wonderful days on St. Thomas, and staying at the Green Iguana just made the trip more enjoyable.

This place was like a peaceful oasis. The courtyard was magnificantly "over-run" with all kinds of plants and trees and flowers. It was relaxing just to sit and listen to the " critters".

Sue and Bud are like family members who go out of their way to make you comfortable.

We highly recommend this lovely place, and hope to get back here to enjoy more of the island atmosphere.

This hotel is a very smart choice. Visited: May 2008

My wife, stepdaughter and I enjoyed our 14-night stay at this hotel. I won't go overboard and say it's the best hotel in the world, even though I feel compelled.

What I will say is that all descriptions in my travel guides were on target. This hotel was very clean, and all around nice. We rented an efficiency (A-4). It helped having all cooking and eating utensils we needed. Also, the harbor view from our balcony was very beautiful.

If someone wants an affordable hotel with good security, this hotel is a very "smart" choice.

After visiting to St. Thomas, I'd not want a hotel downtown. This hotel's location on top of Blackbird's Hill was a better choice (safer, and more pretty). The walk downtown via 99 steps was very quick and easy.

The main reason someone should want to stay there is that both managers, Sue and Buddy, were every bit as friendly, warm and helpful as reported in the guides. We especially liked how they loaned us a cooler for use to go on picnics at the most beautiful beaches in the world.

My wife and stepdaughter loved the fact the managers gave them fresh bananas right off of the tree in their front yard. They were delicious.

Staying at the Green Iguana hotel was a very good choice.

Green Iguana is great! Visited: March 2008

We stayed at the Green Iguana for a night on each end of our trip. It's a great, small hotel.

It's very conveniently located, easy to find, and a short trip to and from the airport. They offer nice accommodations.

Sue and Buddy, the managers, are wonderful. They are very accommodating and helpful.

We would definitely stay at the Green Iguana again.

This was a true Caribbean experience! Visited: March 2008

The Green Iguana was a delightful place to stay upon our arrival in St. Thomas.

The lovely surroundings and breezy feeling of the rooms with their lovely white furniture and spectacular views over Charlotte Amalie provided excellent accommodation.

We arrived at 6:00 p.m., and the only negative was that it apparently was not safe to walk to the local restaurant at night. We had to take a taxi which, with our seven-member party, was expensive.

This was perfect for our night before we left sailing. Visited: March 2008

We stayed at the Green Iguana for a night before picking up a boat to go sailing in the BVI.

We loved being able to walk into town for shopping and dinner, and return to our comfortable, clean and relaxing room at a great price.

I would highly recommend it.

This was our second stay here.

We like it because it is small. It is also very clean, pleasantly decorated, and quiet. We love the little garden, too.

It will be our first choice when we come back to St. Thomas.

This is the best little hotel on the island! Visited: February 2008

We stayed here for five days following a camping trip on St. John, and it was heavenly.

The very comfy room was outdone by the fabulous view from our own balcony. There was a lovely back garden that all are welcome to use, too.

The hosts, Sue and Buddy, were like family - a warm, hospitable southern folk who can't do enough for you - and
want to!

We will definitely return.

It was so clean and there was a great attention to detail. Visited: December 2007

We spent our first day here before a sailing trip in BVI. The room was so comfortable, and it was great for picking up food in town and reheating for an evening meal in the room.

No worry about the safety of the area below the hotel. If you are a walker, the 99 steps are no issue and you arrive in the heart of town when you descend.

We returned to a new room for 1 1/2 days at the end of the sail. Again, it was clean and had all the amenities to make one comfortable. I highly recommend it.

It took a while to find groceries and take out food, but we recommend the Giggling Gecko. It was a small bar and restaurant in one of the alley malls. Michele's food was very reasonable and excellent. It was about half way down the main street of shops. We ate there three times.

It was such fun to visit with her. If you go further down the street, look for the red and yellow striped building not far after the Catholic Church. The home cooked style food was cheap and so great when we got back to our room. Enjoy your stay!

The Green Iguana is a wonderful boutique hotel. Visited: December 2007

This is an incredible hotel sitting above Charlotte Amalie. I appreciated how there was a lock on the main door to get into the hotel, and then our room had three locks (including a deadbolt).

We also had a full-sized kitchen, which was awesome.

The hostess was terrific. I had requested an air mattress for my father (who would sleep on the fold out bed), and they followed through (unlike many chain hotels).

We received excellent service, and enjoyed wonderful views. If I ever return to St. Thomas, this is where I will stay!

This was my second stay at the Green Iguana. My daughter, who lives on the island, recommended this nice little get away.

It is quiet, not like a busy hotel. I feel safe, as there is a security lock on the main door that only guests can get into. The rooms also have safes.

Our room was clean, and housekeeping was excellent. There is a good size refrigerator and microwave, also.

I will always recommend this nice little island get away.

This was my second stay at the Green Iguana.

My room was great, as I had all the amenities I needed - and I had a great view. The walk into town for drinks, food, and shopping was just five minutes. Once in town, you can take an open Safari taxi for $2 and go to Red Hook (ferries).

The managers are courteous and helpful. I'll stay here again next time I'm in St. Thomas. No problems!

I stayed over for a night after staying in St. John for a week.

The room was lovely, and Buddy and Sue were genuinely interested in me. They even got up at 5:00 am for my wake up call and to help me with the luggage.

I completely recommend this place.

This was our sixth stay in five years. We always stay at the Green Iguana.

We have met many locals, and they agree this is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Many have said that it is where they stayed when they first got to the island - and just loved it. We agree!

Thank you for your hospitality, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Don't let the three stars disappoint you. This was a very clean and quiet place to stay, and it was only a nice stroll to all the shopping.

Buddy and Sue are glad to assist you with any requests, and we enjoyed their hospitality. Don't be afraid of the 99 (103) steps. It was a nice walk. Also, don't miss stopping for a taste of rum along this path. They say don't walk this path at night, but we did not see any shady characters.

Our experience here was okay. Visited: November 2007

Our experience was okay with this quaint little hideaway.

Our only complaint was that the housekeeping was not up to par. The floors were never swept while we were here for a week. Housekeeping caught us sleeping late one day and promised to come back later (in an hour). However, they never did, so we were out of clean linen.

Also, we had an ant problem in the bathroom cabinet.

Management had recently changed, from what we understood, from the owners to live-in managers.

This was a great little hotel. Visited: November 2007

We stayed here for a wedding, which took place at the Frenchman's Reef.

Our room was H-4 , as shown on the web site. It was very roomy, (20 x 20) with two very comfortable beds. It had no balcony, but still had a very nice view. The bathroom shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water.

The walk down to town was easy, but take a cab back up if you don't love hills. The called cabs came quickly, and on days when ships were in, we often found a cab available dropping off people at Blackbeards Castle just next door.

The AC was good, and kept the room cool through 89 degree days. Better yet, it cooled the room quickly when we got back at night from our touring. If you are used to central air systems, as opposed to in window type AC, you may find it to be a bit noisy. We had no problem, though.

The laundry room came in handy, and they had a supply of free books to help you lounge on the beach. Soda, water, and snacks were in the office. Having a fridge and microwave came in handy. We packed extra coffee and snacks with us. Note: they no longer have toaster ovens in the rooms.

we loved our stay at the Green Iguana, and can recommend it to you all.

We found the Green Iguana Hotel on the Internet, and booked our stay for seven nights. The ease of making our reservation was wonderful.

We found the location and comfort of the hotel to be great. The hotel was secure, and the location made for an easy drive for island touring and beach going.

Also, the hotel price was a great value. The room was very clean and nicely decorated making our stay very comfortable.

Sue and Buddy, the care takers, were great. Their recommendations for dining and site seeing opportunities worked out well for us.

Thank you, Sue and Buddy, for a great stay, and for making our vacation super.

This is just a great little hotel. Visited: October 2007

We stayed eight nights with a group of family for a wedding. We took up four rooms. We booked one of the rooms with a full kitchen, so we'd have the convenience of eating in a few nights. Te also took advantage of the grill on the property.

There was no pool, but with all the great beaches on St. Thomas, who needs a pool? They even had beach towels for us to use!

The rooms were a good size, and the views from them were great. The location was convenient. It was an easy walk or taxi ride to downtown for shopping or eating in a restaurant (although the walk back up the 99 steps could be difficult for some).

Overall, it was a good value for the price
