Q: We are going to spend Christmas week at Palm Island this year. It will be our first visit there. We have read that the beachfront cottages near the dock (1-6) don't have as much privacy as those on the other side of the restaurant (7-19), but those have smaller beach area. If you have been there and have a recommendation on what room to request, please let us know. Also, any other tips on Palm Island, snorkeling and side trips are welcome. Thanks.

Both the Palm View and Beachfront rooms house two units under one roof. While the Palm View accommodations are set back from the beach a bit, they do extend a little bigger living space. The Plantation Suite offers a front sitting area and larger bathroom and is located in a two-story complex. These suites are one of the newest additions since the island was purchased in 1999, when Coconut Johnny's family passed on the palm-planting legacy.
I prefer the Palm View for the privacy.
