Exceptional Views - Premier Accommodations Visited: December 2008

This was a holiday gathering for us, two sons, their wives and our grandsons to be born in March and April. We enjoyed memories to be recounted for years to come.

The villa presents an awesome view of Petit Piton and the valley below spilling out to the Caribbean. Whether morning or midday sun, rainbows arching across the peak or colorful sunsets, the views are addictive, begging for many pictures in attempts to capture that which is best only when standing there. Perhaps the most picturesque and unique "signature" views in the Caribbean. Enjoy.

Villa accommodations are excellent, relaxing, open, private, and frame views at every turn. We had strong winds, heavy rain, peeper frogs, bats, birds, lizards, roosters, barking dogs, and a few insects. These were all accepted as a part of the experience. No complaints. Nothing that interrupted our enjoying a pleasant holiday with family.

Food: We cooked our own meals. Kitchen/living room great for family cooking/being together. Super J's in Vieux Fort had most all we needed and Eroline's in Souffriere had ample supplies. No seafood. We went out for some meals. Restaurants: Ladera, Hummingbird, Fond Doux, Mango Tree, Jalousie, and Anse Chastenet. Ladera was best. Hummingbird very good. The others mediocre. We have written separate reviews for each.

Sites: Botanical gardens, Hot Springs and Fond Doux Plantation are all worth a visit. Otherwise, drive and explore. Roads are good. Expect them to be hilly and winding. Only poor road we met was to Anse Chastenet. {"A bit of hell to get to paradise.")

Beaches: Jalousie is white sand and perfect. Anse Chastenet is black "sand" and serene. Bring chairs supplied by villa.

Our sons are avid SCUBA divers. Scuba St. Lucia is excellent dive shop.

The villa does not have working Internet but free WiFi from Jalousie can be reached from the villa porch.

Fabrice and Shaka were there when needed.

Best vacation ever! Be Happy!

This was truly the most beautiful view in the Caribbean. Visited: May 2008

After spending the first two days of our honeymoon at the Ladera Resort next door, my husband and I spent five days at the villa. It was an amazing, well-appointed home with the most spectacular view you can imagine.

We had hoped that we would be able to cook for ourselves. That was not possible. While the kitchen was fully functional, the grocery store in Soufreire offered little in the way of food you would want to cook while on vacation (seafood, meat, fresh vegetables, or fruits).

The property manager turned us on to the farmers' co-op which was close by, and open on Tuesday afternoons. We were able to buy some fruits and veggies there. However, because there were limited groceries, we were not able to cook as much as we had hoped. At the grocery, expect to be able to buy milk, juice, eggs, cheddar cheese, crackers...just the basics.

We didn't have the same experience with the caretaker couple that others have. We saw Fabrice the day we arrived and the morning we left.

Shaka came to cleanup the house every morning. She cooked breakfast on a couple of mornings and it was fine, but her repertoire is very limited. We tried to teach her how to make an omelette, for example. She was perfectly nice, but not all that much help with directions, information, or food.

While the Jalousie beach was closer, we preferred the Anse Chastenet beach -- food and drinks were much better. There were no piton views, however.

We will return, but with more realistic expectations.

This is the best place on the island! Visited: January 2008

The minute we arrived at La Fleur it began an amazing stay on St. Lucia.

Fabrice and Shaka, who take care of the villa, are super nice and attentive. The villa has incredible views, and is very clean with nice decor - and it is gorgeous!

I suggest you arrange the chef for a couple of nights. The restaurants were a bit disappointing - but I am a foodie. Also, go to the hot springs in the AM!

The beach below at Jalouise is amazing, and is just a short drive. Ladera Resort is right next door, and is a nice option for cocktails or food.

It is definitely large enough for four!

This is the best villa to rent in the Caribbean! Visited: January 2007

We stayed here for a week in January 2007, and it was absolutely amazing.

The house was beautiful, and the staff (a local couple who live on site, but in their own small house nearby) was very helpful.

There was absolute privacy. We could sit on the deck of our room admiring the ocean, and no one could see us at all. The house was nicely designed so that each room had quite a bit of privacy and space to be alone (personal bathrooms and decks). The living room and kitchen provided a great place to cook and be together.

There were breathtaking views of the Pitons from every room (bathrooms, too!). They also provided great rocking chairs and lounge chairs for enjoying the sunset right into the ocean.

Anyway, I really can't say enough good things. The only downfall (if there was one) was that the house was perched high up on a ridge so that if the wind blows, it can really blow through the house when the back windows or doors (non ocean side) are open.

This is a good thing when the weather is hot and muggy (keeps things fresh and cool), but during windy nights, it can get loud.

We ate one or two dinners at the hotel nearby (walking distance) which were excellent. But mostly, we stayed in to cook.

There was a beach that was very nice for snorkeling, swimming, and sailing (lots of rentals possible) within driving distance. This house tops my list as one of the best places I have stayed.
