This was an unbelievable beach resort. Visited: February 2007

The location on Condado Beach couldn't be beat. This beach had so much personality. It was beautiful.

I lounged in the beachside pool, next to the swim-up bar all afternoon and spent a few hours in the casino each night.

Our room had a flat screen television, and our balcony overlooked the ocean. We loved it! For the price, which was surprisingly good, I know of no better place to stay in San Juan.

We had a fantastic stay at the Marriott! Visited: January 2007

We had a wonderful time at the Marriott. Our room was brand new with a flat panel TV and a balcony overlooking the ocean. The beach was great, but the pool there is really cool with a fun slide. Also, the staff was friendly and the casino was a blast.

The Mariott was So-So Visited: April 2003
Posted by mike32ny
My wife and I just got back from the mariott, after getting off a royal caribean cruise that was awesome all around..The mariott we thought had some good and bad points..Last year we also had stayed in Puerto Rico after our carnival cruise, but at the inter-continental hotel..The inter-continental blows this hotel away..Yes it goes for more money but i would say it was worth it..The Mariott has a decent pool area..the beach outside was nice and was clean..the bar area on the pools were ok..The rooms had a damp smell to them and the service was bad..we had asked for a safe(because for some reason our room didnt have one) and got none..then we asked at the front desk and the girl said in a few hours and we never got one?..why?..room service charges were high and the restaurant prices were high..cannot comment on the food because we didnt eat there..actually ate across the street at the tropical restaurant(very reasonable and the food was good)!..Lobby had Latin bands but was really, really loud!..Casino was good, cant complain there, especailly since we won $1,000.00..Hallways were dingy and desperately needed a painting and the elevators couldnt seem decide to go up or down!..we were trying to get to our floor but kept going up and down and floor number was not registering the elvator..kept pushing the number and then it would dissapear? why, i dont know?..we normally do not complain but this joint was fair at best overpriced for the so-so service and quality of the rooms..by the way if you want turn down service, you need to ask for it!..why?..i dont know? yours truly mike and diane

Good and bad points to this hotel. Visited: August 2002
Posted by katieedwards
I spent 4 nights at the Marriott in San Juan. The location is great, and the hotel has a pretty beach and pool area. It could be that I was spoiled as I had just come from two different five-star resorts outside of San Juan, but I wasn't super-impressed.

Our room had a great ocean view, but the room itself had a damp smell that never went away. Also, although they ask you to request when you want your room cleaned (and we did), they still tried to come and clean earlier while we were there and didn't seem happy when we asked them to come later at the requested time. We never ate at the hotel so I can't comment on that. The lobby gets very busy at night, and extremely smoky. The Saturday we stayed there, we got back to the hotel with our rental car and they said the garage was full, but when we said we were staying there they let us in, so be sure to tell them that if they say it's full.

The pool area is nice and the waterslide was fun, but it gets very full and there isn't much deep water for adults. Get there early on the weekend if you want a chair.

The staff was very friendly and things were fine overall, just not outstanding. We paid less for one of the resorts that we stayed at prior and had breakfast included as well as a much better experience all-around. I realize, however, that it's different in the city and it probably is a good choice among the available and affordable options.

We had a fabulous stay! Visited: July 2002
Posted by moraleslaurent
The services and food were great. It was not expensive at all, and we were not into spending money just for the fun it.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and we were really impressed with the breakfast (inclusive with our stay here). We were delighted by the variety and quality of the breakfast, it wasn't continental as most places with just bagels and orange juice. If you wanted an ommlette, it was cooked righht in front of you.

The beach was just a few steps from the pools and bars, so guests had that easy and convenient option. This was a great place to stay if you wanted to go out or stay on premises. At night, it was sociable, but not too loud. It was always relaxing!

There were mostly mature adults and young adults. It was a mixed environment: families and couples and some children.

They had wonderful and friendly staff. It was a beautiful property with beautiful views - especially the beach at night (as well as during the day).

I could live here! Visited: May 2002

This is the best place I have ever stayed.

The rooms are plush and the city view rooms are better than the ocean view rooms. The beds are so comfy I could not fall asleep in my own bed when I got home. The food is delicious. Try the shrimp and crab cakes - they are divine!

I have been to Puerto Rico four times and have stayed here each and every time. The private beach is breathtaking. I don't want to stay anywhere else!

This is a great site for R&R! Visited: May 2002

We just spent a lovely Memorial Day weekend with my family at San Juan Marriott.

The accommodations, service, and stretch of Condado Beach were excellent!

Tuscany was pricey, but La Vista offered good food at reasonable prices indoors or poolside.

The hotel was a 10-15 minute drive from Old San Juan, so be prepared to pay $10 for a cab ride or wait quite a bit for the bus (B21) for 50 cents.

The best choice in Condado. Visited: May 2002
Posted by alevizos
If you are looking for a place in the Condado area, you can't do better than this.

They offered decent sized (not large) rooms with balconies. Most of them overlooked the ocean (ours did). They also provided excellent service and good food (by hotel standards). The casino was adequate. The entertainment was good, and they had a great pool and beach area.

The only drawback was that they could haved used an alternate entertainment venue (in addition to the one near the main lobby). On weekends, the entertainment crowd spilled into and filled the entire lobby rendering it useless as a lobby.

If you are single, don't come here. Visited: March 2002

This hotel was extremely nice, clean and well kept. There were a lot of business travelers and couples on honeymoons. I would suggest this hotel for the above reasons only.

If you are an single adult looking for a fun time, this is not the place to be. The hotel was within walking distance to about two shops and one restaurant across the street. There was nowhere to shop, and taxis got expensive for short rides.

The beach was very nice, but we were bored most of the time with no activities to do at the hotel. It was a nice place to just relax and do nothing.

We received superb, A+ service that was sell worth the price. Visited: December 2001

This was truly the best hotel around.

The staff was friendly, going well beyond the call of quality service. Once they knew your name, they addressed you as such. The staff would stop what they were doing to say things like "Good Morning, Mr. Gonzalez, is there anything we can do for you?" That was service!

The food was also great. I have stayed in plenty of hotels, but this one will keep me coming back. My next visit is in August of 2002.

I really thought this place was great! Visited: November 2001

I think you should consider this hotel out of others in San Juan. If you are on a vacation, you would want to stay in a nice, not too expensive hotel, just like this one. This would be better than traveling to different cities and staying in little cottages. This hotel really made my vacation by staying here.

All I have to say it’s very, very nice. You have to go there see it. They have a nice pool and a live band that plays salsa, a pool bar and grill. We love the place and the staff. I would go back for sure--without a doubt!

A beautiful place to spend your anniversary. Visited: August 2001
Posted by Citibnker
I gave my husband an Anniversary present by taking him away to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel. It was a beautiful hotel and a wonderful experience. The staff was wonderful and gave exceptional service. The hotel food was very good and the entertainment at night was pleasant. We would definitely go back again.

Wow! Visited: May 2001
Posted by miselainis
My husband and I were returning from a trip to St. Kitts, and missed our connecting flight home to Dallas. American issued U.S. vouchers to stay at the hotel, with cab fare, dinner, and breakfast the next morning.

Our grouchy mood and exhaustion turned to pure delight when we went to the La Vista Restaurant for dinner, and saw the breathtaking view of the beach. We sat outside next to the lovely pool area, and enjoyed some amazing cuisine!

I had a wonderful salad with chopped avocado and tomatoes, seasoned with lime juice and adorned with a crab cake, a spicy local chicken and rice soup, and some skewers of grilled vegetables and shrimp. My husband also had a wonderful fish dish. We shared an ornately garnished pina colada cheesecake. And the virgin banana daiquiri I had was also delicious!

The room was beautifully decorated, we had a 5th-floor view of San Juan, and our breakfast was just as nice as our dinner.

The staff was friendly, and even though they knew we were paying with vouchers, they did not display any attitude or look down their noses. They were very attentive. And after returning from St. Kitts, where we encountered folks who were practically surly at times, this was so refreshing!

We definitely agreed that missing our flight was the best thing that could have happened to us! I wish we could have seen more of San Juan, but we are planning to return, based solely on our experience at this wonderful hotel.

One of the most pleasurable stays we have ever had. Visited: February 2001
Posted by cwarner
I do not believe that any of us will stay in any other hotel but this one when we return to San Juan. I have traveled extensively, and I have never received such wonderful customer service from any other hotel staff.

The amenities were fabulous; the location was wonderful; the rooms were clean and large; and the food was fantastic. We went on a cruise after our stay and we all agreed that our stay at the Marriott was more memorable than the cruise. We were treated like royalty by every staff member.

What a great experience for us first timers to Puerto Rico. It was definitely a five-star experience!
