The Hacienda is intimate, friendly, and quiet. Visited: November 2005

Don't expect anything but privacy and being well tended to. At the Hacienda, we experienced courtesy, cleanliness and comfort while in a Caribbean paradise.

I suggest eating breakfast. It was substantial, fresh, and delightful menu for any tastes. There was a short half-mile walk to town for dinner. It was also adjacent to the BioBay Tour - the one "must" thing to do. Don't ask, just do it! And, it's free!

There was also a fully stocked 24-7 self bar in the lobby where you are on the honor system. There was an ice machine on site, and a small, locally run store a half a block "down the hill".

It was located "up" off the beach. We could walk, or hop a hotel shuttle to a beach (beach towel and chair comp'd in your room). Being up off the beach, I never once used the room's air conditioning as the breeze and ceiling fan was all that was needed.

I was here Monday-Friday for a small company retreat. The library accommodated the 14 employees for discussions and presentations. Working Groups would break to the swimming pool or second floor veranda. "Hot spots" for hotel provided wireless internet access. Cell phones were no problem.

There was no cheesy hotel entertainment. Well, actually there was no night life at all other than the romancing coquis-tree frogs! I didn't look for any. Socializing with the friendly locals at the near-by restaurant/bars was enough - and it was all part of the island charm.

Linda and Burr were the gracious owners who lived on the third floor. They were there 24-7 for anything guests needed. The hotel proudly displayed the quote "ornaments of a house are the guests in it". They have created an environment where one certainly feels that way.

I typed a previous review--I must have mistakely put 4 stars rather than 5 stars. Can my review be corrected for the Hocienda Tamarindo in Vieques PR?

In a word, there couldn't be a better way to describe this place.

1. Of high spiritual, moral, or intellectual worth.
2. Not to be excelled; supreme.
3. Inspiring awe; impressive.

An island in the Caribbean, very much untouched with comfortable lodging. The weather, the views, the people, everything was fantastic. The most amazing ecological preserves were easily accessible. There were beautiful water/beaches, fine food (the breakfast at the Hacienda is excellent), and it was just, all in all, a very exceptional place.

Absolutely the best! Visited: January 2002

I read about the Haciendo Tamarindo on this site and believed the reviews. I am glad that I did. This place is paradise. From the moment my family and I walked in the entrance, it was love at first site.

We loved everything about the place. The staff is most friendly and very helpful (Alta at the front desk is a real asset). If you need something, from a dinner or outing reservation to a car or advice, they are ready to help. The site is plush and visually beautiful, indoors and out. The antique furnishings, gorgeous view, and made-to-order breakfasts are wonderful. The inn also provides ice chests for when you are out exploring the island, and beach chairs. The pool is splendid, as is the open honor bar where you can get a beverage at any time.

Don't believe any bad press about Vieques because it is a quiet, friendly and peaceful island. The beaches are pristine and not crowded at all. The fact that this island has not been overrun by the commercial tourist industry is a plus because it is the Caribbean tropical paradise everyone is looking for.

If you want a vacation of a lifetime, go to Vieques and only stay at the Haciendo Tamarindo. We checked out all of other inns, and this one has them beat—hands down.

The Hacienda sits atop a hill with a spectacular view of the Caribbean from the south side of the island. It is probably a quarter of a mile to the water with a completely unobstructed view. Our room was a spacious suite with a comfortable living environment and good air conditioning. Next time we stay here, we will opt for an Oceanview Room.

We rented a Montero for $50 a day from Maritza's car rental and drove to Green Beach among other island destinations. You will definitely want a 4x4, since some of the roads are unpaved.

Our rate came with a breakfast, which was very good. We had them pack a lunch for our beach excursions; you will want to go to a beach that is a short drive away.

We had no problems with the ferry, which was $4 round trip. Vieques is mostly about relaxing and is not your typical resort Caribbean vacation. We loved it!

This was the best Bed & Breakfast I have ever stayed in. The views from their fresh water pool were breath-taking. The efficient and friendly staff made our stay so pleasurable. We got married on Media Luna Beach and keep comming back to this island of paradise.

Are you looking for a place to get away from it all? If so, here is where you want to go! No TV, phone, or radio in any of the rooms. You can go to the "Library/living room" to listen to the stereo. All you will hear is the quiet rustling of the palms, the tradewinds blowing, and the occasional rooster crowing.

When you arrive, Barkley, the resident sheepdog, may greet you. The entire staff here make you feel right at home with a "run of the house" feeling. Absolutely fantastic!!

This was one of the best mini-vacations I've had. The Hacienda Tamarindo was fantastic. The view of the ocean and the natural setting was incredible. The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The service was great and breakfast was delicious. We had a wonderful time.

The beaches were close(about 5 minutes by car) and the town was very nice. Vieques was a beautiful island and people were very friendly.

We had dinner in a place called "Posada Vistamar," and felt right at home. The food was delicious, the service was great and the prices were low.

We rented a Jeep Cherokee ($60) and toured the whole island... the trip was amazing.

The only thing I would have changed from my trip to Vieques was the Ferry ride from Fajardo. I will take a plane next time. If you're on a tight budget, you'll have to take the ferry.

Overall, the stay at Hacienda Tamarindo was the best part of our trip.
