A: Nevis car rentals offer an easy and reliable way to travel around the island. Taxi’s are not widely available on Nevis, as they concentrate their efforts around Charlestown and Newcastle, around the airport. The areas that are near the villas are a bit remote and even local taxi drivers may not necessarily know their way around, especially to a privately named home. Cabs may be called from the villas by telephone, but even then, directions are difficult to give to the companies. Bus lines provide an alternate mode of transportation, though their schedules are finicky and can be a bit unpredictable during the nighttime. Nevis car rentals provide a quicker and safer alternative to these public transports and add the ability for day travel to guest’s stays.
Nevis car rentals may be obtained from several companies on-island. To be able to drive a Nevis car rental, a temporary permit is necessary that may be purchased through Nevis car rental agencies (around $8). If Nevis car rentals are not appealing, there are other opportunities to rent smaller motorized vehicles (scooters or bikes), but please remember to wear a helmet.
