It was horrible! Visited: April 2008 |

This is not a five-star, luxury resort.
The rooms were superficially cleaned; there were dead flies on the window-sills of the restuarants; the food was passable (at best); and the staff was dismissive or down-right passive-aggressive in their dealings with guests.
Our air conditioning did not work, and it took us calling our agent from the room, and them calling the front-desk to get any help.
Also, the beach was no better than the Jersey shore. Stay away! |

My wife and I stayed here in February. Yes, the swim up suite was nice, but the upgrade was worth it for the private concierge.
The food was okay - it's all-inclusive, so it was what you would expect. I didn't understand having a Mexican restaurant when you are in the Dominican Republic. Surprisingly, the buffet was the best. However, the private lounge for breakfast was awesome!
Unfortunately, my wife and I figured out about boogey boarding the last day we were here. It was free, good exercise, time together, and it was a blast. The Atlantic side always had waves.
On our plane trip back home, we were already planning our next trip. It was much better than Belize and Mexico! |

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Secrets Excellence and were well pleased.
The airport was an adventure and full of limited technology, but after a few mix ups, we found all of our luggage and were then shuffled to a small van that began our one-hour ride to the resort. The van was air-conditioned, but the roads were a nightmare! Pot holes were everywhere, there were no lanes, and no rules for driving.
Upon arrival at Secrets, we were given luggage tags and then escorted to the Excellence Club (which is worth the $$ upgrade) for a private check in with champagne and cold towels.
Our room was the ocean view swim out. I was not so impressed with the swim out part - but it was very nice. We loved the turn down service, and the bubble bath awaiting our return from a romantic dinner on the beach.
The food was good, different but good. We didn't care so much for being entertained (after all we were on our honeymoon). However, a nice stroll on the beach after a nice dinner was very romantic. The midnight massage on the beach is a must!
Snorkeling was fun as well. Don't waste your time in the casino. The staff was extraordinarily friendly. We were very well pleased with the over all experience. |
