Maria's by the Sea Hotel, Tortola, BVI traveler review

Friendly staff and quite accommodation Visited: September 2007
Posted by sugarcityman
I stayed at Maria's By The Sea Hotel September 2007, when I visited the island to witness the Miss Caribbean World Pageant. I found the staff at the front desk to be extremly helpful and friendly, and I was even given a room that I did not pay for.

I can and would recommend anyone going to Tortola to stay at Maria's, because it is easy to get around from the hotel and the staff they are always willing to give information and to answer questions.

I met the owner, she is a very nice person, and I met two of the daughters who work at the hotel and they were really nice ladies.

I would say stay at Maria's and make your own judgement, because everyone sees things differently.

Keep the good works up and continue to make your guests happy and comfortable.

The Restaurant at Leverick Bay, British Virgin Islands traveler review

This is the best restaurant on the island. Visited: November 1999
Posted by pennstatechick
This place is worth the drive! The food is fantastic, and it is one of the only places on the island that understands fine dining in the Caribbean. Hands down, it is the best place on the island.

Little Dix on Monday is good, and Sugar Mill is also good. Nail Bay has a great lunch, too. Dinner at Leverick Bay should not be missed, though.

This is a great place for the price - and family friendly! Visited: May 2008

I absolutely loved Old Yarde Inn. They have freshly painted everything, and the workout room was great.

The apartment we had was wonderful! We stayed in Building #4, and everything was new and clean. The property was maintained immaculately, and it was very peaceful and calm. We sat and looked at the ocean from our deck.

Our room was clean and decorated with a simple and modern twist. The food at lunch was superb, too. I would go back again!

What a great time! Visited: October 2007

Wow, what a great place to stay on vacation! Guava Road was so comfortable, and so close to great beaches and restaurants. Sebastian's is a must!

My fiance and I absolutely loved the accommodations, and Pat and Alphonso really made us feel at home.

Alphonso and Pat are the perfect hosts, and give every effort to making your stay enjoyable and easy! You'll be as sorry to leave them behind as you are the BVI.

The accommodations are comfortable and large - but cozy. Every small touch or extra has been thought of, especially tons of beach towels - which is so useful with the beautiful beaches nearby.

Be sure to see Long Bay's beach!

Take the Biras Creek ferry from Gun Creek to the Fat Virgin. It is a casual bar/restaurant. They have good food and service - in a beautiful setting.

It was not great, either.

The last time we were here (two years ago), it was excellent. This time we were disappointed.

They served less than great food at great cost.

Saba Wind, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review

It was delightful! Visited: May 2008
Posted by vaamp;amp;ncvisitors
Saba Wind provided glorious views - none of the pics on any of the web sites we found did this place justice.

They had great breezes, excellent maid service, and the furniture appeared new. The kitchen was well stocked, and everything worked.

The only reason for one less than five stars was the noise from the resort. They usually shut it down by 10 pm, though. It really wasn't a problem, as long as you get in the mood ahead of time and enjoy their music rather than your own.

We'll be going back - we hope!

Magic Castle, Tortola, BVI traveler review

We loved this place. Visited: April 2008
Posted by lamp;amp;dhall
This was our third stay at the Magic Castle Villa at Little Bay. We loved this place, and dream about it in the "off" season.

It is a truly spiritual place: gorgeous views, great amenities, privacy, and total relaxation. It is off the beaten path, which makes it even more attractive.

Eva is a most gracious host, and we are so thankful to have found her and her beautiful home. If you're looking for a special spot - this place is it!

Heritage Inn, Tortola, BVI traveler review

This was just what we wanted. Visited: April 2008
Posted by lamp;amp;dhall
We have visited Tortola for eight years now, and often stay at a hotel before we check into our rental villa. We have stayed at numerous places around the island, and this year we stayed at Heritage Inn.

What a treat. It was a great place. Chris and her staff were friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. Our room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Also, the view was one of the best in the islands.

If you are looking for a day or two, or a week or two - you won't be disappointed here. Enjoy this beautiful spot!

Boulder Crest, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review

It is outstanding! Visited: April 2008
Posted by jamiebeck
This is one of the most stunning villas my wife and I have ever stayed in - and we will almost certainly be back. The views are amazing, and the amenities in the villa are superb. As a previous reviewer mentioned, there are trees around the property - but this just adds to the privacy (which is one of the key features of Boulder Crest).

There is a lovely beach just below the villa ( a five-minute walk or two- minute drive) where we saw only two other people the whole time we were here. We spent several days there just snorkeling off of that beach. One of the added bonuses is Boulder Crest has a huge chest of snorkel gear available, along with some beach chairs.

The maid service was impeccable, and the house was exceptionally clean every time they visited.

We can't wait to go back. Boulder Crest is great!

service, British Virgin Islands traveler review

It was better than a bus tour! Visited: November 1999
Posted by vacationist
I had the privilege of going on a guided scooter tour with Island Rydes, and it was amazing. I enjoyed the freedom of not having to worry about being squeezed up between people on a bus, and the wind blowing in my hair. It was just amazing!

The service was excellent. They were very polite and helpful. It was not all about the money.

Sugar Mill Hotel, Tortola, BVI traveler review

We enjoyed the Sugar Mill Restaurant and Inn. Visited: May 2008
Posted by dbahn
My wife and I spent two days at the Sugar Mill preceding a Bareboat charter. We loved it - both the restaurant and the inn.

We reserved the cottage along with another couple who had to cancel their trip at the last minute. So, we ended up with a huge suite-like arrangement to ourselves, which was extra nice.

We dined at the hotel both nights, and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. I doubt that there is a better restaurant on Tortola. And, in speaking with others on the sailing part of our trip, that seems to be the consensus of opinion among residents and tourists.

We wouldn't hesitate for a second to go back - and probably will.

Tamarind Club Hotel, The, Tortola, BVI traveler review

This is a gem in the jungle. Visited: April 2008
Posted by drewdungan
If you prefer laid-back surroundings, great service, and feeling like you are part of the family, the Tamarind Club in Josiah's Bay is the place.

My wife and I have stayed at the Tamarind Club four times, and it gets better every time. It is the perfect place to stay for your first and last night if you are chartering in the BVI. It is also great for those who want a very private, yet casual place to escape for an extended period.

Although it is not on the water, the level of service (and bartending) more than makes up for it.

Finally, if you like to go where the locals go when they have the time off, Tamarind is the place. Their Sunday brunch is the best on Tortola, and you can gorge yourself in your bikini or surf trunks without feeling out-of-place.

Sea View Hotel, Tortola, BVI traveler review

All we heard was "cock a doodle doo!". Visited: December 2007
Posted by gasser
The Sea View was a very basic, but inexpensive hotel just off downtown Road Town. Its rooms were clean but noisy. A vigorous rooster crowed off and on all night long, and traffic noise from the main island road roared by all night long just beneath the window.

It was a functional - but not great - room.

A British Virgin Islands travel review

The Heritage Inn delivers. Visited: November 1999

What a spot! The Heritage Inn delivered on that statement - the views were wonderful.

It was a quaint hotel with a warm heart. I needed this vacation, and Chris was great (she may not know it, but she help me at a bad time in my life). Her staff was out of this world. They made my stay special. They will be in my heart for life. (Thanks, Spicey, for the recipe!)

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and they served great food at the Bananakeet Cafe. You can't go wrong here.

If we ever get back to BVI, there's no question it's the Heritage Inn.

The food was great. We ate here four nights of our week-long stay. They have a small set menu with specials every night.

Lobster night was very good, with fresh Agenda Lobsters on the grill - mmmm! It is still fresh in my memory.

We were a party of seven, and no one complained about any meal.
Way to go Bananakeet Cafe!
