We travelled to Jamaica for the first time in Feb 2007 and stayed at the Ocho Rios. Absolutely fabulous! No complaints whatsoever... We travelled with our two teenaged sons (17 + 15 yrs at the time). My husband and myself had one room and the boys had another. No problems! Friendly staff. Amazing selection of food. Clean rooms (I am very particular). Clean pool. Made reservations for a special dinner one night - great steak food. Continually stocked fridge. No complaints. Did the Dunn River Falls excurtion which was amazing a definite must do. Would definitely return; actually, thinking about going back early next year (2009) to Jamaica but might try the Montego Bay new Riu location.
rooms need refurbishing.pool and pool area very run down. some guests sing and shout at the pool bar till about 5am without security telling them that they are disturbing the guests in the hotel as well as the guests in the hotel next door.lifts are always breaking down.limited choice of food which is poorly prepared. everytime i ate in any of the restaurants i caught food poisoning. the restaurant staff are very unhelpful and only serve you when they feel like it as they would rather chat amongst themselves.all in all a nightmare in paradise!
THIS RESORT SUCKS AND IS THE WORST EVER.... THE POOL WAS DIRTY AND GREEN!!!!! THE ROOMS ARE DIRTY. THE BATHROOMS ARE OLD AND THE TUBS HAVE CHIPS WITH RUST ALL OVER.....
my family is originaly from Barbados and my husband and I chose this place to get married. It was AMAZING!!!! The view fromt eh second floor sitting area was the true meaning of what Barbados was all about. The grounds were beautiful, the day of my wedding, my guests commented on how breathtaking it all was. The staff was impeccable and the house is very kid friendly. It is walkable to the Crane resort so you can easily access one of the best beaches in Barbados. I woudl HIGHLY recommend this place for a wedding or evena family gathering. The lack of airconditiong was no problem as the trade winds off the atlantic at night made the house cool and also lulled you to sleep. I LOVED IT!!!!
The staff was extremely rude, and the room was in horrible condition and filthy. I checked out the next morning. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The only redeeming feature was the Banana Tree restaurant, which was not affiliated with the hotel. The staff and food were great there.
